On Sunday, March 23, our company was honored by the Board of the Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) as the recipient of the prestigious 2013 Charlotte Omohundro award. President/CEO Tom Klitzkie, Vice President Barbara Schwarz and General Manager Paul Klitzkie, were on-hand to accept the award.
The award is annually presented to a person or organization who best exemplifies the late Charlotte Omohundro’s dedication to community service in the area of the environment. Charlotte was an early promoter of environmental stewardship in Evanston, a co-founder of Keep Evanston Beautiful and a committed advocate of the Ecology Center. In 1999, the Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) created an annual award honoring her for 25 years of service to the EEA and Evanston Ecology Center. Charlotte’s commitment to environmental education and best practices in Evanston was exemplary. She was also known for her involvement with the PTA, Girl Scouts and League of Women Voters.
“Nature’s Perspective has been a tremendous partner to the EEA in the past two years as we have worked to put on the Evanston Green Ball, said Rick Nelson, President. “We’ve been extremely impressed with their willingness to go the extra mile to make our event a success. Additionally, our Board is aware of their ongoing commitment to helping other local organizations succeed and make the Evanston area a more beautiful and natural place to live. Consequently, we think Nature’s Perspective is truly worthy of this very special award.”
“Concern for the environment and giving back to the community are two of our company core values. We are thankful to be recognized for our support of sustainable practices,” said Paul. He added, “Some of the ways we do this are by using clean, renewable biodiesel to power our vehicles, recycling materials such as old computers and office paper, plant containers and landscape debris, capturing roof rainwater for irrigating our plant nursery and offering organic lawn applications to our customers.”
