Nature’s Perspective Landscaping received two Excellence in Landscape Awards in the Residential Landscape Construction category from the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). The Gold Award is for a private lakefront estate in the Lakeshore Historic District of Evanston, and the Silver Award is for a private residential landscape and hardscape in Evanston. The award ceremony was held on February 1, 2018, in conjunction with the iLandscape Show at Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center.

Nature’s Perspective Landscaping’s gold award-winning hardscape project involved a shared clay paver driveway with insets and curbing, five-foot tall mortared brick entrance columns topped with lanterns and a round cast stone fountain with a custom-cut Valders stone walk around its perimeter. Whitacre-Greer Northshore Blend clay pavers in the driveway provide fade-proof color, vehicular strength and timeless elegance befitting the historic Tudor Revival home built in 1910. LED low voltage lighting, engineered into the driveway and into focal points of the grounds, utilizes cutting edge technology to illuminate the property on a completely customizable automated system that maximizes lighting potential while reducing monthly operating costs. Its silver award-winning landscape and hardscape project involved the creation of separate garden rooms that offer open lawn and private space, in a corner lot with a newly renovated Georgian style house. Challenges addressed were an exposed site with no surrounding landscaping, drainage issues and areas of dense shade and full sun. A generous, curved walk of Boral Heartland Flash clay pavers and modular stoop lead to the front door, while in the backyard, a modular stoop off the sliding patio doors leads to a clay paver walk and a round clay paver patio with seat wall. The hardscape is softened by lush plantings offering seasonal color, and a screen of upright yews enclose the private backyard retreat. Read the case study
