Congratulations! Your low voltage lighting system will enhance your home’s appearance and add to your property’s safety for years to come. The professional quality lights you selected are designed to be long-lasting and durable, but as with all outdoor items, your lights should be attended to by you or a contractor twice a year. Care is minimal but the attention will ensure the quality, appearance, and longevity for your system.

About Your Lighting System

Your lighting system is termed low voltage because the lights are powered by just 12 to 15 volts of power. This drop in voltage from the home’s standard 120 volts is accomplished by using your system’s transformer. Because all of the power leaving your transformer is only 12 to 15 volts, there is little chance of electrocution. Also be assured, because the system consumes such a small amount of power it is very economical. Another important note about your system is its flexibility. In most cases, lights can be added, removed and even relocated if necessary.

Caring for Your Fixtures
Fixtures are constructed of many materials, cast aluminum, copper, brass and plastic. It is important to know that these materials do “weather” over time. Because of that, their appearance may change slightly or substantially depending on the material. This is a natural process and will not affect the operation of the fixtures. Other than being aware of the natural weathering, your fixtures may occasionally need to have the lenses cleaned, be straightened, re-aimed, and of course require replacement of burned-out lights. You should also remember to adjust your transformer’s timer for daylight savings time.

Please Note: It is important that when changing the light bulbs in your system that you use the same type and wattage bulb. Your system has been professionally designed based on industry standards and any deviations may affect the life of the bulbs and could cause a problem. If you would like to change the wattage in some of your lights, please contact your sales person to assess any potential design limitations. It is also important to replace burned-out light bulbs as soon as possible in order to keep your system working at its best.
